What happens when the whole list has been tried and nobody acknowledged?

my-iris starts again from the top, leaving out anyone who skipped, until the attempt limit is reached. Then the alert ends unacknowledged. Its end report, in the app and the console, says so, and the audit record shows every push and call: who was tried, in what order, and when. If everyone on the list skipped, the alert ends when there is nobody left to reach.

Does a skip end the alert?

No. A skip hands the alert to the next person at once, and leaves the person who skipped out of the later passes of that one alert. The alert ends when someone acknowledges it, when the system that raised it clears it, when everyone has skipped, or when the attempt limit is reached.

What happens if nobody acknowledges an alert?

my-iris keeps going on its own — it never just stops and waits for someone to notice. If the first person does not acknowledge the push, or the call that follows it, my-iris moves to the next person on the list: push first, then a call. After the last person it starts again from the top, leaving out anyone who skipped. When the attempt limit is reached (20 attempts by default), the alert ends unacknowledged, and the end report says so. Nobody has to watch a dashboard for any of this to happen.
